Australia’s proposed 10 states - http://StrangeMaps.wordpress.com/

I was searching the Wordpress site tonight, and found this awesome blog called Strangemaps. Is a guy who’s collected maps from all over the world, such as maps from atlas’s, old (and obviously incorrect), tube, travel and public transport and a heap more.

Anyway, I found this article (above), which was proposed in 1838 to split the new Australia into 10 states. In any even, an interesting proposal. As you can all see, where I’m from (Perth, WA), would actually be Perth Victoria, and Tasmania forms part of the mainland up North. Whacky. Of course the other interesting feature of this here map is, and I’m not sure what the cartographer was smoking, but how did glorious nation of (Spain & Portugal) somehow get to be just south off the Western Australian (or should I say, Victorian) mainland??

Finally, take a look through the site, it sucked a fair bit of my time successfully, interesting read.
