Absolutely, it was a terrible bit of hardware, I do feel a little bad about selling it on to the next guy for £100 a few months ago though. Good Riddance!

I would never buy one of their products again, it is the most useless piece of shit on the planet, I installed one for a client and one for myself, they have both been completely unreliable <br>I would recommend anyone to stay away from their products if you are looking for reliability, it works when it feels like it, one day it appears on the network, the next day it's gone, total fucking crap!

Argh, talk about lack of writing, yea I ended up getting the QNAP TS-409Pro, which is stocked with 4x 500GB as we speak. It's a sweet machine and does everything I couuld possibly need it to, though I find the bit torrent client a little limited.

It does replace the need for another machine in the house for all the serer-ish tasks.

I got this same model from a friend. This is in no other terms, a big steaming piece of shit. I have seen 10Mb networks transfer files way faster than this "gigabit" unit. It is inexcusable, I just can't fathom why anyone would put such crappy product on the market.

I will never touch anything made by tagan or raidsonic with a 10ft pole.

Hey, how did the research go on a new NAS?

I've been having a look a bit for them recently as well - I'm saving for a home theatre upgrade early to middle of next year (right when the economic crisis and the falling value of the AU$ will really hit consumer electronics prices in Au in the balls) and I was thinking of getting NAS to replace/upgrade my current storage solution (a 1tb external hdd).

I think if I get an DLNA/UPnP capable NAS I can browse it from a ps3 and stream media, which would be pretty sick.
